Bo McDougal begins his fourth year in his role as assistant athletic director for support services. McDougal, who enters his 30th overall year with the Dolphins, was the director of sports medicine for three years after his 23-year stint as head athletic trainer.

In his current role, McDougal is responsible for pre-event operations within the athletic department as well as having administrative oversight of the sports medicine and women's lacrosse. He also serves as athletic insurance coordinator and oversees the Drug-testing program for JU student-athletes. McDougal is a crew member with The National Center for Drug Free Sports, Inc.

During his time at JU, McDougal has provided athletic training coverage for special events, including the 1984 U.S. Olympics Gymnastics Trials and the U.S. Gymnastics Federation McDonalds National Championships in 1985, the W.T.A. Sunkist Championships (1986), U.S. Fencing Association Southeast Championships (1987). He has assisted with U.S.-based touring and national teams as they trained in Jacksonville, including the U.S. Synchronized Swimming team as they prepared for the Pan American Games in 1991.

He has also worked with the Athletes in Action on overseas trips to Europe (Poland & Greece) in 1990 and the former Soviet Union in 1994. He was selected to work at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996 and the NCAA men's basketball regionals in Orlando (2004), Nashville (2005), and Jacksonville (2006).

Outside of JU, McDougal was elected as ATAF’s Northeast Florida Regional Representative in the 2011 fall elections and appointed as a member of the Mayor's Council on Fitness and Well-being in 2010. McDougal was named Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida (ATAF) College/University Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2007 for his extensive work with the Dolphins.

For five summers, McDougal served as an athletic trainer for People to People at the Youth Friendship Games (2008, 2009), Ambassador Games (2007) in Vienna, Austria, the Zico Cup Futebol Tournament (2010) and the Ole International Cup(2011) in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. In 2012, he served as a delegate leader for People to People Student Ambassador Program as they traveled to Australia. In his spare time, he also works event security for the Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC) and in fan services for the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A affiliate for the Miami Marlins.

Prior to JU, McDougal served as a graduate assistant at both Arizona State and Murray State, his alma mater. He earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Murray State in 1981 before completing his master's degree in health, physical education, recreation and dance in 1988.

A native of Murray, Ky., McDougal was a letterman in football and baseball for Murray High School and received the Ty Holland Scholarship (1976) after being named the school's outstanding student/athlete.

He is a licensed trainer in Florida and is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association, and Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida.

McDougal and his wife Lois, who are both active members of First Baptist Church Jacksonville, have one child, Milya. McDougal has two stepsons, Jeremy and Brian, a grandson, Kyle, and two granddaughters: Taylor and Ashlee.
