Joel Lamp enters his sixth year at JU, his third as an associate athletics director and first in charge of the external affairs for Jacksonville University. In his role, Lamp oversees the media relations, marketing, promotions, development and ticket sales for JU athletics, as well as the JU Sports Network and the JU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Lamp serves as the primary contact for JU's football, men's basketball program, as well as the men's and women's golf programs. He also fills in as color analyst on several Dolphin broadcasts and on occasion hosts the " JU Insider " - the weekly coach's show.

During Lamp's tenure at JU, he has served as the media coordinator for the 2006 and 2010 NCAA Tournament first and second rounds in Jacksonville. He has also redesigned to stay inline with the current trends on the World Wide Web, implementing a full-scale in-house video streaming operation in 2008. He has also brought on JU's social media platforms and enhancing communications through those channels.

He is responsible for the administrative oversight of the men's and women's golf programs, serving as the interim head coach during the summer of 2008. Under his oversight, the JU golf teams have gained practice access to the TPC at Sawgrass with the men's and women's team hosting a tournament on the prestigious PLAYERS Stadium Course.

Prior to coming to JU, Lamp served as media relations coordinator for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in Daytona Beach, Fla. While with the LPGA, Lamp was responsible for working with the media at each tournament, publicizing the players and the LPGA Tour, working with tournament sponsors to garner greater exposure as well as running the media tent at each event.

Lamp also worked with LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division, publicizing several members in their efforts to help bring enjoyment to the game of golf.

A native of Decatur, Ala., Lamp graduated from Jacksonville State in 2001 with his bachelor's degree in communications with a concentration in public relations.

Upon graduation, Lamp served as the assistant media relations director at Troy State. While at TSU, he served as the contact for the men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's golf, volleyball while working as the secondary contact for the Trojans' football team as it moved from Division I-AA to I-A.

During his tenure at TSU, Lamp publicized the men's basketball team's historic run to the A-Sun Championship and ensuing bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2003.

After a three-year stint at TSU, Lamp was the sports information director at Mercer University for one year. During his tenure, Lamp oversaw a redesign of the athletics website while revamping all sports publications. He also was the " Voice of the Bears," handling the broadcast duties for all Mercer sports.

An avid golfer, Lamp was married to the former Bonnie Borden (also a graduate of Jacksonville State) on Feb. 19, 2005. The couple resides in Jacksonville. They have a son, Joel Steven Lamp, II.
