Danielle Chesnut joined the Jacksonville staff in August 2012 as an Intern Athletic Trainer working with the Women’s Track and Field team and the Football team. In June 2013, Chesnut was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer directly over Men’s Basketball while assisting with the Football program.
Prior to working at Jacksonville University, Chesnut worked with the United States Army at Fort Benning, Ga. as an athletic trainer for basic training soldiers. She also worked as an outreach athletic trainer, working multiple high school and youth sporting events throughout the state of Alabama. Before moving to Alabama, Chesnut worked as a student athletic trainer at her alma mater, Charleston Southern, with the football, women’s basketball, baseball and women’s soccer programs.
Chesnut earned her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, with a Kinesiology minor in 2011 from Charleston Southern University and her Masters in Exercise Science in 2012 from Auburn University. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification, Inc. and is a member of NATA. She is also a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Florida Department of Health. Chesnut is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist as well as by the American Heart Association (CPR, AED, and First Aid). She is an Approved Clinical Instructor by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Education Council.
