Doug Frye is in his 13th year with the Jacksonville University Sports Medicine department. He was promoted to head athletic trainer in July 2006 after serving as the associate athletic trainer.

As head athletic trainer, Frye is responsible for the daily care, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of the student-athlete's injuries in the Dolphin football program at JU, where he is entering his 11th season in 2012.

Frye, a 1998 graduate of JU, worked with the Dolphin baseball's basketball, football and volleyball teams as an undergraduate athletic training student from 1995-98.

Prior to his return to JU, Frye spent one year at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., where he served as an intern in the athletic training department, working directly with the women's basketball and softball programs in 1999-2000 as well as assisting with the APSU football program. He also provided sports medicine coverage for Montgomery Central High School during the fall of 1999 through Premier Medical Group.

A native of Interlachen, Fla., Frye is a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Florida Department of Health, a Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification, Inc. (ATC), Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Certified Functional Movement Screen Specialist (FMS), and is Certified in Graston Instrument Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association, Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Frye is also a member of the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program where he serves on the Board of Directors. He is an Approved Clinical Instructor by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Education Council.

Frye is single and resides in Jacksonville.
