Baxter comes to Jacksonville University after serving as an assistant coach for the Queens University of Charlotte men’s lacrosse team for two seasons (2010-11). During his tenure, Baxter helped coach the Royals to the program’s first-ever top-10 finish in 2010 and was a finalist for the Division II “Assistant Coach of the Year” award.
Baxter served under Jim Fritz, who won the 2010 Conference Carolina “Coach of the Year” award. Together, the duo led the Royals to the school’s best-ever regular season record with a 9-4 ledger that culminated with a second-place showing in the NCAA Tournament regional.
While at Queens University of Charlotte, Baxter served as the defensive coordinator who was responsible for the team’s strength and conditioning as well as orchestrating practices and editing game film. Under his tutelage, numerous Royals earned prestigious awards, including one Defensive All-America selection, a Defensive Academic All-America pick, two defensive first-team all-conference players and three defensive second-team all-conference players.
Besides his coaching duties, Baxter also was as the junior-class recruiting coordinator while generating scouting reports on all Royals opponents.
Before starting his coaching career, Baxter was standout player. He was a four-year defender at the University of Maryland, playing on the ACC-champion Terps squad in 2005. He also earned the Jack Faber-Al Heagy Award for determination, will-to-win, pride and accomplishment.
Baxter earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in criminology and criminal justice in 2008.
