Adam Silva is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's lacrosse team.

Silva, who works as the Wounded Warrior Project’s chief development officer, will bring a wealth of coaching and playing experience to head coach Guy Van Arsdale’s staff. For the past four seasons, Silva has served as a defensive coach for the Florida Possums Lacrosse Club.

Silva has also been a fixture in Northeast Florida’s high school lacrosse-coaching circle. He spent the last two seasons as Ponte Vedra High School’s defensive coordinator. Before taking that position, he held the same role at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. from 2007-09.

Before entering the coaching profession, Silva was a standout player for Army. A three-time first-team All-Patriot League selection, Silva earned four varsity letters and took the Black Knights to three conference championships from 1991-93. As a senior defenseman, Silva captained Army to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1993. He was named to the Patriot League’s all-decade team for the 1990’s.

Following his distinguished playing career, Silva took the head men’s lacrosse coaching position for the University of California-Irvine in 1996. He then moved on to become head coach at Chapman University in 1997, giving him two seasons of experience coaching club-level college programs.

Upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Silva was commissioned as a field artillery officer, serving with the 1st Infantry Division and the California Army National Guard. After his military service, Silva crafted a successful business career. From 1997-2003, he was the regional sales manager for Buffet Crampon USA, Inc. He then became North American sales manager for the company before joining the Wounded Warrior Project in 2007. Silva was promoted to chief development officer of the WWP in July 2009.

Silva lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children in Jacksonville. He earned his B.S. degree in Applied Engineering/Human and Regional Geography of Latin America.
