The hits just kept on coming for the Dolphins as freshman center fielder Dan Gulbransen went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBI to lead the JU baseball team to a sweep over Belmont with a 15-11 win, Sunday afternoon at John Sessions Stadium.

JU (10-6, 3-0), which tallied 35 total runs for the series, trailed 7-2 in the fifth but scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth, four runs in the sixth and two in the eighth to win its fourth straight game.

BU (10-5, 0-3), which racked up 28 runs in three losses, was swept by the Dolphins for the first time since 2008 and has now lost five consecutive games.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better result this weekend,” said JU head coach Terry Alexander. “Belmont got the jump on us in the fifth but we answered right back in our half of the inning and then got some insurance runs. This has been a long week for us so we are looking forward to getting some rest before we play again on Wednesday.”

Senior Glenn Witkowski (1-1) got the win after allowing seven runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work. Sophomore Clay Kollenbaum added an inning of scoreless relief in the ninth to close things out.

Garrett Fanchier (1-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit with three walks in 0.1 innings of relief. Frank Adelman got the no-decision after giving up two runs on three hits with a walk before leaving in the second inning after taking a comebacker off of his right heel.

Along with Gulbransen, Martinez finished 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Junior shortstop Jamaal Hawkins went 3-for-4 with a double while junior right fielder Esterlin Perozo finished 3-for-6 with an RBI. Freshman designated hitter Adam Brett Walker also finished with multiple hits including a double while driving in two runs.

Nate Woods led the Bruins offense by going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Tim Egerton finished 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI while Packy Elkins and Jared Breen each finished with multiple hits.

The Dolphins will return to action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. as they face College of Charleston for a single road contest.
