JU baseball’s Dan Gulbransen continued his strong work in the classroom to be named to the Capital One Academic All-District team by the by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Gulbransen, a junior exercise science major from Appleton, Wis., recorded a 4.0 GPA to make the list for the second straight season. In 2011, he received third team All-America honors from the organization. Final results for the Academic All-America team will be announced later this month.

In his time at JU, Gulbransen has also been named A-Sun All-Academic and to the President’s Honor Roll twice.

“It’s great to see Dan on this list again,” JU head coach Terry Alexander said. “Dan is the perfect example of a student-athlete because he works just as hard on the field as he does in the classroom. Hopefully, he can take home Academic All-America honors for the second time in his career.”

On the field this season, Gulbransen ranks second on the team in average (.311), hits (56), doubles (10), triples (1), home runs (6) and RBI (30). He is also third in run scored (25) and one of three players to not miss a game in 2012.
