Carson Andrew honored by Perfect Game USA
After undergoing Tommy John surgery prior to his freshman season, junior pitcher Carson Andrew appears to have reached full strength after earning Top 10 Summer Performer honors by Perfect Game USA.

Andrew, who will enter the 2009 season as the ace of the JU squad, is currently sporting the lowest ERA (0.68) in the California Collegiate Summer League with the Santa Barbara Foresters. In six starts, Andrew is 3-0 with 40 strikeouts and only eights walks and a .151 opponent batting average in 40 innings. The only runs he allowed on the year (three) was during a six inning relief appearance against the Cuban National Team in Havana, where he struck out four batters and forced nine ground-ball outs.

“We are extremely proud of Carson, both on and off the field,” said associate head coach Tim Montez. “We have a good relationship with the Santa Barbara Foresters and have sent them several players over the years including Matt Garza (Fresno State /Tampa Bay Devil Rays) and Pete Clifford (JU/Arizona Diamondbacks). We hope after this summer, Carson goes into his junior year with a lot more experience and confidence after competing against some of the best players across the country.”

The Foresters, which have won 14 conference titles and a national championship in 2006, are currently 22-14 with a 10-9 record in conference play.
