Green squad takes Game 2 of the Fall World Series, 5-4

Senior RHP Joey Wedner had two solid innings of relief and freshman infielder Jimmy Howick connected on a two-run homer to lead the Green squad to a 5-4 win over the Black team, in Game 2 of the Green & Black Fall World Series on Friday night at John Sessions.

Wedner earned the win after allowing one run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work. Sophomore RHP Chris Kaminski struck out the side in the ninth to earn the save. Sophomore RHP Steve Eagerton was tagged with the loss.

Other than Howick’s big blast, sophomore infielder Jamaal Hawkins went 2-for-4 with a double, senior catcher Jeremy Gillan finished 2-for-4 and senior right fielder Thomas Myers tallied a double.

The Black team was led by redshirt-freshman infielder K.C. Clabough (2-4, 3B), junior infielder Chuck Opachich (2-4, RBI) and senior catcher Brad Simmons (3 BB, RBI).
