After rallying for an extra-inning win over Bethune-Cookman, the JU baseball team (28-13, 16-8) will return to A-Sun play for a three-game series at second place Kennesaw State (25-16, 15-5), beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. in Stillwell Stadium.
JU trails KSU in the all-time series, 5-4, as the Owls have won the last five meetings between the two schools. The last series won by the Dolphins was a sweep over the Owls on May 6-7, 2006 in the first meeting between the two schools.

Against B-CU, sophomore Chris Kaminski (4-1) earned the win after hurling two innings of scoreless relief...senior Billy Schlee got the no-decision after allowing one unearned run on four hits with two strikeouts through four innings...senior Joey Wedner, freshman Baker Chapman and junior Kyle Kriech combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.
JU received votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers (NCBW) Top 30 Poll on March 30...the Dolphins are 60th in RPI rankings (.555), 70th in IRS rankings (109.7) and 137th in strength of schedule, according to Boyds World...JU leads the Atlantic Sun Conference with an 28-13 (.683) overall record...the Dolphins lead the conference in team ERA (5.22) and sixth in team batting average (.306) in the conference rankings...Kennesaw State is second in team ERA and third in team batting average (.311)...senior Jeremy Gillan is ranked sixth amongst collegiate catchers by Rivals.com’s College Power Rankings.
JU inks six during signing period
The JU baseball team announced the signing of six student-athletes during the 2008-09 signing period, including local products Jimmy Appleby (Trinity Christian) and Chris Patrick (Terry Parker).
Along with Appleby and Patrick, OF Daniel Gulbransen (Appleton, Wis.), LHP Sean Kennedy (Gurnee, Ill.), C Cole Rhoden (Starke, Fla.) and 3B/C Adam Brett Walker (Milwaukee, Wis.) will make up the 2008-09 signing class for the Dolphins.
