Dolphins fall to Knights 5-2
Orlando, Fla. – After a pitching duel on Friday night the Dolphins and the Knights squared off on Saturday afternoon at Knights Stadium in Orlando.
The Dolphins scored first in the top half of the second. Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal HS.) led off with a walk. Kris Molter (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny HS) singled to left. Ethan Loosen (Uniondale, NY. / Kellenberg) sacrificed but was able to reach on a throwing error loading the bases for the Dolphins. Zac Houck (Orange Park, Fla./ Eagles View) then lifted a sacrifice fly to right scoring Koslowski easily from third to put the Dolphins up 1-0.
The Knights answered back quickly off starter Josh Baker (Sussez, Wis./University School) scoring two runs on four hits in the bottom half of the second inning to go back on top 2-1.
The Dolphins battled out of a bases loaded and no out jam in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Jeff Tanner (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) who replaced Baker in the third induced three consecutive ground balls to squash the Knights rally.
The Knights continued putting the pressure on the Dolphins scoring three runs on three hits in the bottom half of the fifth inning to go up 5-1.
The Dolphins scored a run with two outs in the eighth when Koslowski doubled and scored on a single by Molter making it 5-2.
The Knights starting pitcher Danny Davis held the Dolphins in check. Davis (3-0) pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing only one run on four Dolphin hits to get the win.
Josh Baker (0-3) went two innings allowing four hits and two runs in the loss.
The Dolphins and the Knights will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at John Sessions Stadium. Game time is 2pm and can be followed in www.judolphins.com.
