KENNESAW, Ga. - The JU Dolphins (13-23, 6-6 A-Sun) scored ten runs in the first two innings to jump out to an early lead over the Kennesaw State Owls (19-18,8-7 A-Sun) in Atlantic Sun action at Stillwell Stadium.

The Dolphins jumped out early batting around in the top half of the first inning. Dylan Dillard (Kissimmee, Fla./Osceola) and Jake Huxtable (Winter Springs, Fla./Santa Fe College) reached on one out singles. Dillard scored on a fielder’s choice by Brady North (Tampa, Fla./Hillsboro CC). Braddock Rowe (Jacksonville, Fla./South Georgia College), Drew Luther (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton College) and Nathan Koslowski (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal) all followed with singles. The Dolphins kept the heat on in the top of the second adding four more runs on five hits. The first six Dolphins reached base safely adding to the lead and making it 10-0. The big blow was a run scoring double by Rowe.

The Owls wouldn’t go quietly adding four runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning on four hits to cut the lead to 10-4.

The Dolphins added a run in top of the sixth. Following a pair of walks to North and Koslowksi, Garrett Ruckel (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) singled scoring North and putting the Dolphins back in front 11-5.

The Owls added a run in the bottom half of the frame on two hits and a walk. The Dolphins helped out their own cause defensively when North started an inning ending double play that went to Kris Molter (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) then back across to Adam Maxon (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) that was covering first on the play.

The Dolphins added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Zachary Houck (Orange Park, Fla./Eagles View Academy) led off with a double and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Dillard. Huxtable then lifted a sacrifice fly to center scoring Houck easily to make it 12-6.

The Owls pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 12-7.

The Owls mounted a rally in the bottom half of the ninth scoring three runs on three hits to round out the scoring at 12-10.
