Follow JU Baseball Coach Terry Alexander's Voyage Around the Globe This Summer With the U.S. National Team Online

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- - Jacksonville University head baseball coach Terry Alexander is serving as an assistant coach for the 2002 USA Baseball National Team this summer, and fans will be able to follow him across the globe with the launch of "TA's 2002 Summer Tour - JU and the Red, White and Blue" starting today on www.judolphins.com, the official web site of JU Athletics. Alexander will be sending regular diary entries, and the schedule and scores of all of the games will also be available on the site.

The USA Baseball National Team Trials begin today and conclude Sunday in Tucson, Ariz. The team will then play two exhibition games in Tucson before heading to east on the first leg of the "Red, White and Blue Tour." Team USA will play 11 games in various stadiums along the east coast June 28-July 11 and wrap up the American tour with four games in Strongsville, Ohio, July 12-15. The squad will then head to Europe for the Harleem Baseball Classic July 19-29 in Haarlem, The Netherlands, followed by the first-ever FISU World Championships Aug. 3-11 in Messina, Italy.

Alexander, who completed his 12th season as head coach and his 23rd season overall with the Dolphins this spring, has a career record of 410-309-2 at JU. He has led the Dolphins to two conference championships (1995, 1999), five NCAA Regional appearances and earned two Sun Belt Coach-of-the-Year honors (1991, 1995).

The Jacksonville native played collegiately at Florida State, earning his B.S. in physical education in 1977, then receiving his M.A. in physical education from North Florida in 1981. He also spent two seasons as an outfielder in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization from 1977-78.
