Baseball's Chad Hauseman Earns CollegeBaseballInsider.com All-America Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior outfielder Chad Hauseman (Pottstown, Pa.) was named Honorable Mention All-America by CollegeBaseballInsider.com, the Web site announced Monday. Hauseman led the Atlantic Sun Conference with a .401 batting average, 16 home runs and a .717 slugging percentage en route to A-Sun Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors.

Hauseman became the sixth player in JU history to hit .400 or better for a season and the seventh to post a slugging percentage of .700 or better, while slamming the fifth-highest single-season home run total. He also ranks fourth on JU's career home run list with 33 and seventh with 340 total bases.

Hauseman hit .468 with 12 home runs and a .926 slugging percentage in conference play, earning A-Sun Player of the Week honors a league-high three times. He reached base safely in his last 28 games and hit .438 in his last 48 games after starting the season 1-for-18 in the first five games.

Hauseman, a 24th-round selection by the Anaheim Angels, led the Dolphins to a 32-30 record and their third NCAA Regional appearance in the last five years. JU clinched the A-Sun's automatic bid by winning the conference tournament title as the No. 6 seed, which had only been done once (UCF, 1997). Hauseman made the All-Tournament Team and was joined on the by A-Sun Freshman of the Year and Tournament MVP first baseman Gordie Gronkowski (Buffalo, N.Y.), sophomore outfielder Chris Kelly (Sarasota, Fla.), junior outfielder Clint Hart (Jacksonville/Paxon) and sophomore pitcher Dennis Robinson (Putnam Valley, N.Y.), who earned the victory in the opener and the championship game.
