Gordie Gronkowski Named A-Sun Co-Player of the Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Gordie Gronkowski was named Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Player of the Week after leading the Dolphins to a three-game sweep over Florida Atlantic last week. Gronkowski becomes the third Dolphin to receive A-Sun accolades this season (Justin Young, Aaron Parvey) and the second JU offensive player selected this year.

In the first game, Gronkowski went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI, while also reaching base twice due to being hit by a pitch, to lead the Dolphins to a 14-7 win. In the night cap of the doubleheader, he finished 1-for-4 with two walks to help the squad to an 8-7 win. In the finale, he went 1-for-2 with an RBI single, while also being walked four times. For the week, he batted .600 (6-10) with a double, a home run, five RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Along with his six hits, he also reached base in 14-of-18 at-bats due to six walks (two intentional) and two hit by pitches to have a .750 on-base percentage. Gronkowski also stole a base, recorded 27 putouts and two assists and did not commit an error in the field during the weekend.

Gronkowski currently leads the Dolphins with 102 total bases, eight home runs and a .573 slugging percentage and a .469 on-base percentage, while also ranking second in batting average (.371), hits (66) and doubles (12). With his numbers, he ranks in the top 10 in the conference in on-base percentage, total bases (sixth), home runs (t-sixth), batting average and hits (seventh), slugging percentage (eighth) and RBI (ninth).

The Dolphins will travel to No. 13 Florida State on Wednesday to face the Seminoles at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 1460 with Cole Pepper calling all the action. The Dolphin Pre-Game show will begin 15 minutes before first pitch.
