Former NFL lineman Jerry Crafts begins his third season with the Dolphins but will take on more coaching responsibilities this season on the offensive line.

In his first season with the program, Crafts dabbled into several areas including assisting with the offensive line and the junior varsity team.

This year, he will take over all administrative and day-to-day aspects of the program, including travel.

Crafts joined the JU staff following a one-year stint as head coach of the Erie Freeze in the American Indoor Football League (AIFL) in 2006. He also assisted three years with the NFL Junior Player Development (JPD) and High School Player Develpment (HSPD) in Buffalo, N.Y.

Prior to coaching, Crafts logged nearly 20 years of playing experience at every level of professional football, which has included Super Bowls (2), world championships (1) and bowl games (5).

His NFL credits include the Indianapolis Colts (1991), Buffalo Bills (1992-94), Green Bay Packers (1995), Philadelphia Eagles (1997-99) and Oakland Raiders (2001).

In the Canadian Football League (CFL), he was a member of the Toronto Argonauts (1999-00), Montreal Alouettes (2001) and Hamilton Tiger Cats (2002-03).

In the Arena Football League (AFL), spent time with the New Jersey Gladiators (1999), Buffalo Destroyers (2000-01), Las Vegas Gladiators (2002) and Detroit Fure (2004).

Crafts also had stints with the Orlando Thunder (1991) and Amsterdam Admirals (1996-97) in the World League of Amercian Football (WLAF) and the Los Angeles Extreme (2001) in the Extreme Football League (EFL).

Crafts played his college ball at Oklahoma from 1986-89 under legendary head coach Barry Switzer. During that time the Sooners reached three Orange Bowls, including wins over Penn State for the national title (1986) and Arkansas (1987).
