Bo McDougal named Assistant A.D. for Support Services
Bo McDougal, a veteran of more than 25 years at Jacksonville University, has moved from his position as Director of Sports Medicine to the Assistant Athletics Director for Support Services. Doug Frye, JU’s Head Athletic Trainer, will now oversee the day-to-day operations of Sports Medicine.

As JU adds two new sports this school year and with the growth of all 20 sports to a high competitive level, the need for more staff in internal operations to oversee operations, budget oversight and facilities created the opening.

“Thanks to the administration, we were able to add and restructure positions in our internal operations staff that will aid us in overseeing 20 sports this upcoming year,” said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. “This allows our staff to maximize their efforts in each area in support of our coaches and student-athletes. Efficiency and meeting the needs of our coaches and student-athletes is so critical and these moves afford us this opportunity.”

McDougal’s new role expands the internal operations staff headed by Dave Farraday, Senior Associate Athletics Director, who will take on more responsibilities in the financial administration of the department.

“I’m excited about my new role here at JU and the upcoming year,” McDougal said. “This is the most exciting time since I have been in JU athletics and I look forward to doing everything I can to get even better.”

In his new position, McDougal will oversee the operations of JU athletic events, as well as the sports medicine department and the equipment room.

With McDougal’s move, Derek Wencl, the Director of Facilities and Operations, will now work even more closely with the facilities to ensure they remain in first class condition.
