Dolphins receive votes in preseason FCS Coaches Poll
For the first time in the history of JU football, the Dolphins received votes for the Football Championship Subdivision preseason top 25 coaches poll.
The defending Pioneer Football League champions received 11 points and would be ranked 50th according to the poll. The Dolphins join San Diego as the only teams in the PFL to receive votes in the poll.
"We are honored to be recognized by the other coaches across the country to receive votes for the top 25," said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. "We can't worry about these polls though. We have to focus on ourselves and getting better each day. If we do that, then the rest of it will take care of itself."
All three FCS teams in the state of Florida received votes, with Florida A&M getting 62 points and Bethune-Cookman getting 12.
Getting into game week routine:Monday was the first day of classes at JU and the Dolphins began to get into their game week routine, which means a day off.
The Dolphins will have four more practices before the final preseason scrimmage set for D.B. Milne Field at 10 a.m.
"This is a key week for us as we start to give our starters our more reps and get ready for the first game," Bell said. "With school starting today, we wanted to get our guys into the routine of game week during the season."
