Dolphins face Marist in key PFL matchup
When playing in the Pioneer Football League, teams expect to play in all sorts of weather conditions.
On Saturday, the Dolphins will make their first trip outside of the Southeast as they fly to New York City to face Marist. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., with the game being broadcast on 1010XL as the “Voice of the Dolphins” Barry Milligan calls the action – starting with Bono’s Barbecue Pregame Show at 12:30 p.m.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low 60s at game time, which is a stark contrast to the Dolphins last trip to New York. JU travelled to Albany last season for the Gridiron Classic where the temperature at kickoff was in the high teens.
“We’re looking forward to playing in the cool weather,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “In this league, you have to be ready to play in any type of weather because you’re going to see it at some point during the season.”
JU (2-2, 1-0 PFL) is coming off of a 27-21 win over Davidson in which Josh McGregor threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another. The sophomore quarterback is now within 1,500 yards of becoming the school’s all-time leader in passing yards.
The Dolphins defense is looking to pick up its play as well and restore its reputation as a ball-hawking unit. JU is the only team in the Football Championship Subdivision that has not created a turnover this season.
