JU set for 2009 home finale on Saturday
In the first 10 years of football, JU had just one winning season.

Now in its second decade, the Dolphins are just one win away from putting up back-to-back winning seasons for the first time ever.

Jacksonville’s first chance to make history comes in the 2009 home finale on Saturday as they host Pioneer Football League co-leader and one of two undefeated teams in the country in Butler. Kickoff is set for Noon, with the game being broadcast on 1010XL with live video streaming on ASun.TV. The Bono’s Barbecue Pregame Show starts at 11:30 a.m.

“We’ve had a good week of practice and the guys know they have a chance to do something special with a win this week,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “Butler is an impressive team that is playing at a high level right now. We know we have to match their intensity and play at a high level to come out with a win.”

The Dolphins (5-4, 4-2 PFL) will say goodbye to 14 seniors on this year’s team who will leave JU with at least 21 wins to their credit – the winningest senior class in program history.

“This group of guys has done everything we’ve asked,” Bell said. “They were a big part of our championship last season and I hope we can send them out with a special game on Saturday.”

Butler (9-0, 6-0 PFL) is just outside the top 25 entering Saturday’s game and has to not look ahead to next week’s showdown with Drake. The Bulldogs have won five of their PFL games by a touchdown or less.
