JU announces it 2010 football schedule
The JU football team will face a difficult schedule as it looks to retake the Pioneer Football League crown in 2010.

The Dolphins will have five home games, but its first two games will give JU a shot at national recognition as they travel to face rising power Old Dominion and former national champion Appalachian State.

“We’re excited about the upcoming season and the challenges that are in front of us,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “Playing two teams that are highly thought of gives our program a great opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best in the country. Our vision is for this program to be one of the best in the country and the only way to do that is to play some of the best – and we’ll do that this year.”

JU will open the season at Old Dominion on Sept. 4 before its second trip to Appalachian State on Sept. 11.

The Dolphins will open their five-game home schedule on Sept. 18 against Webber International. JU will also host San Diego (Oct. 2), Drake (Oct. 9), Homecoming against Marist (Oct. 23) and the season finale against Campbell (Nov. 13).

Jacksonville has four road trips in PFL play this season, starting with Davidson (Sept. 28). The Dolphins will also visit Valparaiso (Oct. 16), Morehead State (Oct. 30) and defending champion Butler (Nov. 6).

“The league schedule is always tough and we know that we have to play well every time out to reach our goal of a championship,” Bell said.
