Josh Philpart named one of the top 10 receivers in the nation
Junior wide receiver Josh Philpart was named one of the top 10 wide receivers in the country by The Sports Network on Thursday.

A native of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Philpart set the school record for most receiving yards in a season (912) and receiving touchdowns (13) last season en route to unanimous first team all-Pioneer Football League honors.

“This is a great honor for Josh and he is very deserving of this recognition,” said JU head coach Kerwin Bell. “He is a tremendous athlete with great hands who finds a way to get open. He’s definitely a guy we want to get the ball to as much as possible during a game.”

In just two seasons, Philpart has moved into fourth place on the school’s all-time receiving yards list (1,356) and already owns the career record for most receiving touchdowns (17).

During a stellar sophomore season, Philpart caught 54 passes for 912 yards with 13 touchdowns in leading the Dolphins to their second straight winning season. He ranked 22nd in the country in total receiving yards, was 18th in receiving yards per game (82.91) while ranking 54th in receptions per game (4.91).

He had four games with 100 yards receiving last season, including a career-high 195 yards on six catches with two touchdowns in the season opener at Webber International. He also had 192 yards on six catches with two touchdowns against Morehead State.

Philpart enters his junior season having caught a pass in 19 straight games and has caught at least one touchdown pass in eight straight games.
