On the heels of Saturday’s 50-14 win over Morehead State, three Jacksonville University players have earned national attention.

Quarterback Josh McGregor, tight end Quintin Davis and defensive lineman Mike Mayoral all earned honorable mention in the College Football Performance Awards this week.

McGregor, who was 19-for-30 for 346 yards and five touchdowns, previously had been named Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week. With his effort, McGregor, from Royal Palm Beach, Fla., surpassed 10,000 career passing yards and has moved to eighth in all-time career touchdown passes with 105.

Davis, from Jacksonville, Fla., caught three of those passes against Morehead State for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Wolfson High School graduate had TD catches of 45 and 2 yards. For the season, Davis has 16 catches for 337 yards (21.1 average) and six touchdowns.

Mayoral was in on four tackles, had three sacks and an interception as the JU defense shut down the FCS’ top-rated passing game. Mayoral, from St. Augustine, Fla., has 26 tackles (six for losses) and 4.5 sacks this season.
