McDougald named PFL Defensive Player of Week
Jacksonville University’s Lacy McDougald, has been named Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the team’s 56-13 win over Davidson Saturday.
McDougald, from Jacksonville, intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown.
He intercepted passes on consecutive Davidson drives in the third quarter to help break open a game that Jacksonville led 14-7 at halftime.
He returned his first interception 25 yards to set up the Dolphins' offense deep in Wildcats territory and four plays later JU converted with a touchdown.
On Davidson’s ensuing possession, McDougald intercepted a pass and returned it 59 yards for a touchdown, giving Jacksonville a 28-7 lead. Along with his 85 yards in interception returns he also had three tackles (one solo) and a pass breakup to his credit.
