Kennedy Named to GTE District Team

Jacksonville, Fla. - Jacksonville University tight end Scott Kennedy has been named to the 1999 GTE University Division Academic All-District III football team. Eighteen players representing 11 institutions were selected to the overall team. District III is made up of all Division I and I-AA schools in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Eligibility requires a cumulative 3.2 grade point average and the athlete be a starter or key reserve on the field.

Kennedy, a sophomore from Tampa, Fla. (King H.S.) has a 3.85 GPA in Engineering. He has started every game at tight end for Jacksonville (3-4). Kennedy has caught 15 passes for 228 yards (15.2) and two touchdowns.

Kennedy is very active off the field, as well. He is the football representative to the Student Athlete Advisory Board, a member of the Student Government Judiciary Review Board, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a member of the Physics Honor Society, a member of the Math Honor Society, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Jacksonville University competes in football as a Division I-AA Independent. In all other sports, JU is a Division I member of the Trans America Athletic Conference.
