Jeremy Kearson Earns Pioneer Football League Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior defensive back Jeremy Kearson (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) was named Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week for his play in the Dolphins' 44-31 win over Edward Waters on Saturday. Kearson is the fourth Dolphin to be honored this season.
Kearson returned two blocked punts for touchdowns as the Dolphins blocked three punts on the afternoon, giving them seven blocked punts for the season. Kearson's first return, a five-yarder, got JU on the board in the first quarter, tying the game, 7-7. His second return of the game, a 29-yarder, gave the Dolphins a commanding 24-14 lead in the third quarter. Kearson, who now has three career blocked punt returns for touchdowns, also had eight tackles in the game and is second on the team for the season with 57 stops.
JU (3-6) closes the 2002 season against Wagner on Homecoming this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at D.B. Milne Field on the JU campus. The Dolphins, who have won two of their last three games, have won three games this season over scholarship programs.
