Football's Tim Hasse & Ed Templeton Earn Preseason All-America Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior linebacker Tim Hasse (Bradenton, Fla.) and senior offensive tackle Ed Templeton (Orlando, Fla.) have been tabbed Second-Team I-AA Mid-Major Preseason All-America by Don Hansen's Football Gazette, while Hasse was also honored by I-AA.org as a Second-Team I-AA Mid-Major Preseason All-American in its annual fall preview magazine. I-AA.org also named junior quarterback Mike Sturgill (Vero Beach, Fla.), junior right guard Josue Sanchez (Middleburg, Fla.), Hasse and junior return specialist Chad Davis (Tallahassee, Fla.) First-Team All-Pioneer Football League for the preseason. Hasse led the team and ranked 10th in the PFL with 87 tackles in 2003 en route to First-Team All-PFL honors. Sturgill, who has started all 21 games during his first two seasons, earned Honorable Mention All-PFL honors after throwing for a school-record 2,060 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2003, while Sanchez and Templeton helped pave the way for All-America RB Emmett Hunter, who rushed for a school-record 1,467 yards. Davis also earned Honorable Mention All-PFL honors as a return specialist after averaging a school-record 23.2 yards per kickoff return, which ranked third in the conference and 43rd nationally. The Dolphins continue to prepare for their season opener on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Florida International The game will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. by the Sunshine Network for the third consecutive season.
