Football Inks Eight to Jumpstart Signing Period

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University football team signed eight players to national letters of intent on national signing day, head coach Steve Gilbert announced Wednesday. The initial group of signees features five players from Northeast High School in Oakland Park, Fla., as well as linebacker Ben Moulden (Jacksonville, Fla.) from Jacksonville's Wolfson High School.

Fullback Chris Roberts (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), tight end Shawn Beauchamps (North Lauderdale, Fla.), wide receiver Cordaro Johnson (Pompano Beach, Fla.), linebacker Marcel Walters (Lauderhill, Fla.) and defensive back Travis Williams (Oakland Park, Fla.) all signed from Northeast High. Roberts was a second-team all-district performer, while Williams earned honorable mention all-county honors.

The Dolphins also inked offensive lineman David Lanham (Loxahatchee, Fla.) from Wellington High School and defensive back Donte Williams (Apopka, Fla.) from Apopka High School. Lanham was a first-team all-conference and second-team all-area performer.

The regular signing period continues until April 1, while the late signing period lasts until Aug. 1.
