2008: Started 12 of JU’s 13 games as a freshman … named PFL Offensive Freshman of the Year … named one of the top offensive freshmen in the country by the College Sporting New s … set the school record for most passing touchdowns (24), most passing yards (2,444) and completions (172) in a season … entered preseason camp as the fifth string quarterback and was the backup in the season opener at Savannah State …s tarted the second half of the Savannah State game, leading JU to three straight scoring drives en route to a 20-7 win … completed 9 of 14 for 159 yards in the second half of the win in the season opener…threw for more than 300 yards twice, starting with a season-high 343 yards and three touchdowns against Campbell … threw a touchdown in nine straight games at one point and scored at least one touchdown in 10 straight … threw for three touchdowns or more four times, with a season-best and school-record six at Morehead State … completed 16 of 27 for 319 yards in the 40-9 win at MSU, earning PFL Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 19 … completed 14 of 20 for 238 yards and four touchdowns against Butler, breaking the school record for touchdown passes in a season.

Prior to JU: Attended Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College during the 2007-08 academic year.

High School: Three-year starter at Glades Day High School in Belle Glade, Fla. under Pete Walker … as a senior, he was named first team all-state after leading the Gators to a state title … earned MVP honors at the Outback Bowl all-star game … helped the Gators to consecutive district championships as a junior and sophomore … received second team all-state accolades during those years.
