Jacksonville University Athletics announced on Wednesday they are moving forward with the building of the Jacksonville Lacrosse Center (JLC). The University has reached the fundraising goal to break ground on this lacrosse facility with construction set to begin this summer. Completion is scheduled for fall 2018.
The JLC has been a primary focus for Athletic Director Alex Ricker-Gilbert since his appointment to the position in May of 2016.
"It is so rewarding to see all of the hard work coming to fruition," said Ricker-Gilbert. "We identified this as a priority when I first took on this role and thanks to the overwhelming generosity from the JU Family and the support of the University, we are ecstatic to announce we will be putting a shovel in the ground this summer."
"The diligent work from our coaches, athletics administration, university advancement and our supporters has paid off," added Ricker-Gilbert. "It has taken a group effort to get us to this point and I am so thankful to all of the people who have helped us along the way."
The $1.875 million facility is a 8,600-square-foot building that will serve as the new home for both the men's and women's lacrosse programs and will be located adjacent to the grandstand on the north end of D.B. Milne Field.
