Also during the 1968-69 season, Morgan set the JU record for free throws made in a season with 215. In his next season, 1969-70, helped led the Dolphins to the NCAA National Championship game by averaging 18.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Once completing that remarkable season, he earned 1970 Mideast Regional All-Tournament team honors after scoring more than 20 points in three straight games to led the Dolphins at the regional. Since his stellar JU career, Morgan was taken in the second round by Boston Celtics in 1970. He played two seasons with the Celtics (1970-71 & 71-72) while scoring 172 points in two seasons, dishing out 39 assists and bringing down 91 boards.
