Doug Milne
A former member of the JU’s Board of Trustees, Douglas Milne gave his time and energy to Jacksonville University and the community since his arrival here after World War II. An associate of the JU athletics program for more than 30 years, Milne played a major role in founding the Dolphin Boosters and was affectively known as “the father of JU basketball.” In addition to his contributions to athletics, his talents and financial resources have has a hand in the advancement of JU to where it stands today.

A 1938 graduate of the University of Oregon and a four-year serviceman during the second World War, his religious and educational beliefs were the foundation of a well-respected career for the civic leader.

In recognition of his years of loyal service to the school, the Board of Trustees established the “Douglas Milne Sportsmanship Award,” which is now presented on a yearly basis to the student-athlete that shows outstanding dedication in athletics and academics.
