Dolphins get 2009-10 season started with Friday practice
With preseason practice starting on Friday, the JU men’s basketball team took some time away from its individual workouts this week to speak to local children at Matthew Gilbert Middle School.

The entire JU team spent time with the sixth and seventh grade at the school, while also speaking to the football team. The Dolphins discussed the importance of staying in school, doing their homework and listening to teachers, coaches and parents.

“We always enjoy getting involved with our community,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “I think it’s necessary to continually show our youth positive role models.”

The Dolphins will hit the court as a team for the first time on Friday afternoon in Swisher Gymnasium. JU returns four starters from last year’s team that won the Atlantic Sun Conference title and advanced to the NIT – the Dolphins first postseason trip since 1987.

“We’re excited to get started,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “Our players are eager to get practice started to build off the success we had last year.”
