Pride, Tradition, Excellence: JU Basketball Reunion set for Feb. 12
Pride, tradition and excellence.

Those three words best describe the JU basketball programs, which will have a reunion on Feb. 12 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, honoring all of the former Dolphins who wore the green and gold.

The event will also honor the 1969-70 team on the 40th anniversary of its epic run to the national championship game – putting the city of Jacksonville and Jacksonville University on the map.

“We are excited to invite of those who built the foundation for our basketball program’s success back to honor them,” said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. “It’s also going to be a great opportunity to bring back the members of the 1970 team and their amazing run to the national championship game. It’s an event that, I hope, everyone in the JU family will take part in and relive some great memories through the years. I hope the city of Jacksonville will support this event as I expect this to be a sold-out event.”

The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner and program starting at 7 p.m. All tickets purchased before Jan. 1 are $100, with tables of 10 going for $1,000. To purchase tickets, call the JU athletic department office at (904) 256-7400. The event is expected to sell-out so early ticket sales are encouraged.

All former Dolphin players and coaches are invited to the event for free, with immediate family members being admitted for $50.
