JU opens two-game road trip at Stetson
After its most impressive outing of the season, the JU men’s basketball team looks to keep the momentum going as they start a crucial two-game road trip at Stetson on Friday.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with the game being broadcast on 1010XL. Barry Milligan will be calling all the action, with the Bono’s Barbecue Pregame Show starting at 6:45 p.m.

Jacksonville (4-8, 1-3 A-Sun) is coming off a 39-point win over Kennesaw State at home, the Dolphins third win in their last four games.

“We had a good effort on defense and that allowed us to get some easy baskets in transition,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “Stetson is a tough team, especially at home, so we will need to have another good night on defense if we want to be successful.”

Ben Smith put up 21 points in the game, his fifth straight game with 20 points or more. During the streak, he is averaging 24.8 points per game.

While Smith has been heating up, the Dolphins have continued to pound their opponents on the glass. JU has owned the rebounding edge in all but two games this season, putting up a 55-32 advantage in the win over KSU.

Freshman Glenn Powell led the Dolphins with a season-high 13 rebounds.

Another key to JU’s success was strong scoring nights from Travis Cohn and Ayron Hardy. The duo from Alabama scored 29 points in the game, hitting 13-of-21 from the floor – including three 3-pointers.
