Basketball Tipoff Luncheon set for Nov. 2 at the Arena
Fans looking to get ready for the upcoming basketball season are invited to join JU head coaches Cliff Warren and Jill Dunn at the annual JU Tipoff Luncheon at Noon on Nov. 2 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Dolphins will hit the court for the first time as a team on Friday with their first practice of the season.

“We’re ready to get on the floor and practice together as a team,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “With a lot of new guys, we’ve got a lot of teaching to do in order to get everyone acclimated to our system.”

Jacksonville returns three starters from last year’s squad that repeated as Atlantic Sun Conference champions and advanced to the second round of the NIT. Travis Cohn and Ayron Hardy are the two seniors that will lead the squad, with Hardy being named to the preseason all-conference team.

The Dolphins were picked to finish fourth in the A-Sun by the coaches and the media.

“Our success the past two seasons has been very positive for our program, but we can’t live off that,” Warren said. “This is a new team and a new season. We have to come ready to work every day and get better.”

JU opens its season on Nov. 12 at Miami (Fla.), with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. The Dolphins first of 13 home games is set for Nov. 16 against Savannah State.

Admission to the tipoff luncheon is $5 and covers lunch. For more information or to RSVP for the event, contact Nikki Swanson at (904) 256-7444.
