JU hosts Belmont for Sea Best Seafood Night
Having won its last three games, the JU men’s basketball team hosts Belmont on Thursday night at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena with free admission for Sea Best Seafood night.

The doubleheader start at 5 p.m. with the JU women’s game, with the men’s game set to tip at 7:15 p.m. The game will be broadcast on 1010XL, with Barry Milligan and Artis Gilmore calling the action.

There will be a tailgate in front of the Arena, with Sea Best Seafood providing free samples, a rock climbing wall from the Army and the Frank Frangie Show broadcasting live all afternoon – leading up to the pregame show.

JU (14-6, 8-3 A-Sun) looks to get back into the Atlantic Sun Conference title race against a Belmont (20-4, 12-1 A-Sun) team that had been rolling in league play until its first loss against Lipscomb last week.

“Belmont is a very good team that is well coached and plays a high level,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “Thanks to Sea Best Seafood for their support as we look for a great crowd and a great environment.”

The Dolphins current winning streak has come together thanks to a strong defensive effort.

Jacksonville has held its last three opponents to less than 60 points in regulation, which is a key number for the Dolphins. JU has won its last 24 games when holding its opponents to 61 points or less, including all 10 times this season.

JU flashed its balance scoring attack in the win over Campbell on Monday night with five players scoring in double figures. It is just the second time this season that five Dolphins have put up at least 10 points in a game.

Keith McDougald led the Dolphins scoring effort with 15 points off the bench, hitting three 3-pointers in the contest. The outing snapped a three-game streak without a double-digit scoring effort.
