JU legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Artis Gilmore was one of 16 local celebrities invited to participate in the The PLAYERS Celebrity Shootout - a closest to the pin contest on the world-famous 17th hole on the TPC at Sawgrass PLAYERS Stadium Course.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell won Friday’s THE PLAYERS Championship Celebrity Shootout at the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, winning $5,000 for his charity, the Brunell Family Foundation.

A total of 16 celebrities were given two shots each at the 17th with its famed island green. Closest to the pin won the $5,000 for charity.

Brunell’s second attempt landed 13 feet, 4 inches from the pin.

With the pin tucked in the traditional Sunday pin placement on the ever-dangerous right side, Gilmore's first shot came up dry - just 26 feet, 11 inches from the hole. Trying to be more aggressive on his second attempt, he pulled his shot a little more to the left, finishing 48 feet, 4 inches away.

Gilmore's charities were JU Athletics and the N. Jerome McClain Scholarship Fund.
