Finals over, Dolphins focus on hardwood and Furman
With the fall semester in the rearview mirror, the JU men’s basketball team returns to action on Sunday when they travel to face Furman.

Tipoff is set for 4 p.m., with the game being broadcast on 1010XL with Terry Norvelle calling the action starting with the Bono’s Barbecue Pregame Show at 3:45 p.m.

Jacksonville (2-5) is looking to shake its three-game losing streak against a Furman (4-4) team that has played well at home.

“This week our focus has been on final exams, so our guys are ready to get back to the court and focus on basketball,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren.

Defense will be one of the points of emphasis in practice leading up to the game.

Jacksonville has seen its last three opponents hit better than 50 percent from the floor as all three scored at least 80 points. Another item of concern has been JU’s effort on the boards as the Dolphins have won the rebounding battle just twice this season.

“We have to play better defense for us to be successful,” Warren said. “We can’t afford to give our opponents second chance opportunities like we have recently.”
