Road warriors: JU travels to face Wofford on Sunday
The familiar hum of the bus tires on the interstate greeted the Jacksonville University men’s basketball team on Saturday as they hit the road in preparation for Sunday’s game at Wofford.

Tipoff is set for 3 p.m., with the game being broadcast on 1010XL starting at 2:45 p.m. with the Bono’s Barbecue Pregame Show.

The Dolphins (2-7) will be playing their eighth road game of the early season, making its second trip to South Carolina after already seeing Wisconsin, several spots in Florida as well as Georgia – with two trips to Alabama coming during the next 10 days.

“Playing on the road is always difficult and this game isn’t any different,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “Wofford is a well coached team that is playing well right now.”

Jacksonville is looking to rebound from its off-shooting night on Thursday in a 59-45 loss to Winthrop. Glenn Powell was the only Dolphin in double figures, recording his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Dolphins struggled early in the game, hitting just 6-of-25 in the first half to trail by 12 at the intermission. Unfortunately for JU, that deficit was too much to overcome despite cutting the deficit to four in the second half.

One of the surprises in the contest was JU’s struggles from behind the arc. The Dolphins have hit at least five 3-pointers in every game but one thus far, but were just 1-of-13 from downtown, with Tevin Galvin hitting the only trey.

This is the second matchup in the series between the two teams, JU prevailing in the first meeting back in 1982...The loss to Winthrop snapped JU’s five-game home-court winning streak and a four-game winning streak at the Arena…JU has won the rebounding battle in each of the last two games…Wofford has won three in a row since a three-point loss to Davidson back on Dec. 1…This is the Terriers fifth straight home game.
