JU travels to face Stetson on ESPN3
Returning to the road, the Jacksonville men’s basketball team begins a two-game road trip on Saturday afternoon when they face in-state rival Stetson on ESPN3.

Jacksonville (2-12, 0-3 A-Sun) is looking to build off a strong second half against defending champion Belmont on Wednesday.

The Dolphins hit better than 50 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes and out scored the Bruins as well, 44-41, falling by 12.

Ultimately, the last 10 minutes of the first half doomed JU. The Dolphins gave up a 15-2 run during that time, with JU’s only basket coming on a Glenn Powell hook shot.

With the scoring drought behind them, the JU offense came alive in the second half – thanks in large part to Aloys Cabell. The sophomore guard scored 14 of team-high 16 in the second half.

Stetson (5-9, 2-2 A-Sun) has lost six of its last seven, including a 75-59 loss at Mercer on Wednesday. The Hatters have three players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Adam Pegg’s 13.3 points per game. As a team, Stetson has five players hitting 35 percent or better from 3-point land.

Tipoff is set for 3:15 p.m., with the Dolphins making their fourth appearance on ESPN3 this season and the first of four in Atlantic Sun Conference play. Fans can also follow the game on 1010XL as well as JUDolphins.com.
