Marcus Allen heads to Dominican Republic for basketball and community
JU senior forward Marcus Allen will head to the Dominican Republic on Thursday.

On his trip, he will play some basketball but he will also be giving back to the local community. As part of this journey, he will help give clinics to underprivileged children who would not have a chance to be exposed to the sport of basketball.

“I’m excited about this trip,” Allen said. “This is a great opportunity to help some people that aren’t as fortunate as me through the game of basketball.”

Allen is going on the trip through Score International, a group who sends several basketball teams around the world on mission trips such as this.

He will be joined on the trip by players from ACC and SEC schools, such as Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Clemson.

“I knew this was a great opportunity for a great experience and I couldn’t pass it up,” Allen said. “Coach Warren reminds us how lucky we are and that we should help those less fortunate in the community. This trip is just that – an opportunity to give back.”

Allen will be blogging throughout his trip here on
