Men's hoops head to Campbell
How do you celebrate a big win over a cross-town rival?

The answer for the JU men’s basketball team was sleeping as the Dolphins had an early wake-up call to board the bus Friday morning for the trip to face Campbell.

Fresh off of the third largest road win in school history, the Dolphins (7-8, 6-1 A-Sun) face the Camels (6-9, 3-3 A-Sun) in the Pope Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon at 3:15 p.m.

“This is a quick turnaround to play a good Campbell team,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “Our veterans know how hard it is to win on the road and what they have to do in order to win games.”

JU had rattled off four straight wins to regain a share of first place in the A-Sun standings and pull within one game of .500 for the first time this season. Since a 0-5 start, JU was won seven of its last 10 games.

While the offense has picked up, scoring more than 78 points in each of the last six games, the defensive effort has improved as well.

Four of JU’s opponents in the last six games have shot less than 45 percent from the floor and the most 3-pointers a team has made during the streak is seven by Troy.

A big part of that defensive success is limiting teams to one shot. The Dolphins have won the rebounding battle in all six games, owning a double-digit advantage in the last three.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast on 1010XL, with Barry Milligan calling the action. It can also be seen live on ASun.TV.
