Men's hoops wraps up road trip on Sunday
The JU men’s basketball team has found a variety of ways to win this season.
The Dolphins (10-8, 8-1 A-Sun) will be looking for another team effort as they try to extend their seven-game winning streak on Sunday as they wrap up a two-game road trip at Florida Gulf Coast. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
In JU’s 23-point win over Stetson on Friday, the Dolphins got dominating performances in the first half from Lehmon Colbert and Marcus Allen. In the second half, the strong inside game opened up the perimeter as Ben Smith and Ayron Hardy got into double figures.
“We tell our guys every day that we need everyone contributing to be successful,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “While we are having different players step up and make plays each night, the one constant is our effort on the defensive end.”
The defensive effort mentioned by Warren is best shown by JU holding its opponents to an average of 58.1 points per game, winning by an average of 20 during the streak.
On the offensive end, JU has seen five different players lead the team in scoring. The Dolphins are hitting 48.3 percent of their shots from the floor and have controlled the boards by an average of more than 12 rebounds per game.
The Eagles (9-12, 5-5 A-Sun) meanwhile have won eight in a row on their home court, including an upset of ETSU two weeks ago.
