Men's hoops preps for semifinals on Friday
With a week in Music City under their belts, the JU men’s basketball team will begin its quest for the General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament title on Friday.

The top-seeded Dolphins (17-12) will face either Lipscomb or Campbell at 9:30 p.m. (EST), with the game being televised on Comcast Sports Southeast. It will also be broadcast on 1010XL, with Barry Milligan calling the play-by-play.

JU has been off since winning the regular season title via an 84-82 overtime win at Belmont, using the down time to focus on school work and seeing Nashville.

“The guys are ready to get back out on the floor and play,” said JU head coach Cliff Warren. “We took a couple of days off, but we’re back into our normal routine in preparation for a game on the road.”

Jacksonville is seeking its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in 1986.

A year ago, JU advanced to the finals by winning two games only to have its hopes dashed by a red-hot shooting Belmont squad. This season, the Dolphins earned a bye into the semifinals with their regular season title.

“Our goal at the beginning of the season was to win the conference, then the tournament and go to the NCAAs,” Warren said.
