The JU men’s basketball team will be at home Monday for the first time in nearly a month when it hosts Florida Christian College in Swisher Gymnasium at 7 p.m.

After playing the last six contests on the road, the Dolphins (3-5) will play five of the next seven games in Jacksonville. Monday’s contest will also be the first of three this season for JU in Swisher Gymnasium.

“We are excited to play at home,” JU head coach Cliff Warren said. “We have missed playing in front of our crowd these last two weeks. Our guys will be ready and prepared for the contest.”

Last time out, the Dolphins erased a 15-point deficit at South Carolina State to tie it in the final seconds only to have the Bulldogs hit a tip in at the buzzer to escape with the 74-72 win.

Junior Dylan Fritsch had 14 points to lead the Dolphins at South Carolina State. Freshmen Kordario Fleming and Jarvis Haywood each had 13 points, while junior Javon Dawson finished with 10 points in the loss.

In the team standings, Haywood leads the Dolphins in scoring with a 10.9 average. Junior Keith McDougald is second with a 9.8 average, while Fritsch is at 8.9 after pacing the Dolphins in scoring the last two games.

The Suns (9-2) have won the last two contests entering Monday’s matchup. Alex Sanchez (15.8) and AJ Williams (15.0) lead the Suns’ offense, while Montique Lynch is third at a 12.9 average.

Florida Christian is JU’s second opponent from the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) this season. The Dolphins beat Trinity Baptist College, 78-48, in the home opener on Nov. 13.
