For the second time in a week, the JU men’s basketball team returns to the Palmetto state to face South Carolina Friday in Columbia at 7 p.m.

Fans can watch the Dolphins (4-5) live for the second time this season through Fox Sports South or Fox Sports Carolinas. They can also listen locally with the Voice of the Dolphins Terry Norvelle on 92.5 FM starting at 6:45 p.m.

“We have to prepare for a physical battle on the glass and their in-your-face-pressure defense,” JU head coach Cliff Warren said.

On Monday, the Dolphins earned an 89-66 victory against Florida Christian in Swisher Gymnasium.

Junior Dylan Fritsch to 14 of his 18 points in the first half to lead the Dolphins in scoring for the third straight game. Freshman Marcellous Bell scored 12 off the bench, while senior Glenn Powell recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

The Dolphins shot 54.1 percent (20-37) from the floor in the first half en route to a 48.3 field goal percentage. JU also had 36 points from the bench and 26 points on 26 Suns turnovers and 18 steals.

Fritsch’s scoring streak has moved him to second on the team with a 9.9 average, a point behind freshman Jarvis Haywood (10.9) for the lead.

The Gamecocks (5-3) have lost the last two contests since winning their final two games at the Hoops for Hope Classic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They dropped a 64-55 decision to rival Clemson Sunday at home.

Brenton Williams (13.4), LaShay Page (12.3) and Michael Carrera (10.2) each average double-digits in scoring to pace the South Carolina offense. Carrera and Lakeem Jackson are each tied for the rebounding lead with a 7.8 average.

South Carolina holds a 3-1 advantage over JU in the all-time series with every game occurring in Columbia. The Gamecocks won the last meeting, 97-93, on Nov. 27, 2009. JU’s lone win was in the series opener in 1979.
