Dolphins Head Coach to be recognized at the fraternity’s 5th Annual Public Meeting on April 17 at City Hall

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., will honor their outstanding humanitarians at their 5th Annual Public Meeting on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Jacksonville City Hall Chambers, 117 West Duval Street, from 6:00-8:00pm.

Among this year’s honorees is JU men’s basketball head coach Cliff Warren who earlier this season set the school’s all-time wins record. Warren surpassed a record that stood for 53 years when he won his 108th career game for the Dolphins on January 10 in a three-overtime victory over Kennesaw State.   

Warren will be recognized amongst a distinguished group of award winners including Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown, Mark Chapman III, Nathaniel Herring, Charlene Taylor Hill, Barbara Jones, Joe McGhee, Ms. Bobbie O’Connor and Chairman & CEO of Florida Blue, Patrick Geraghty

“This year’s honorees were selected for their outstanding contributions as humanitarians in civic and professional service. Their efforts edify the welfare of community in a manner that we believe deserves public recognition,” stated Dennis Gamble, president of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter in a press release from the fraternity.

The Jacksonville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., was charted in 1925, making it the oldest African American community service organization in the state. For 88 years, the Chapter has been dedicated to providing mentoring and scholarships to students in the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
