JU Basketball season tips off this weekend

Nov. 6, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - It's a busy time in the JU men's and women's basketball offices.

Both teams open their season this weekend, starting Friday night at 7 p.m. as the women take on Georgia Southern in Swisher Gymnasium. The men open their season on Sunday at 4 p.m. against Savannah State.

Each game will be broadcast live on ASun.TV through the JUDolphins.com.

"We're ready to go and see what we can accomplish," said JU men's head coach Cliff Warren. "This is a young group that is hungry to get on the floor and start playing games."

The women's team is looking to pick up where it left off, winning its two exhibition games with a up-tempo flair that saw the team take control early and never relinquish the lead.

"I know that the team is eager to get started on Friday and I'm ready too," said JU women's head coach Jill Dunn. "I know I'm excited because we're playing against my alma mater, but I also want our team to come out focused on the task at hand, which is a good Georgia Southern team."
